English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Germanic invaders and settlers from what is now northwest Germany , west Denmark and the Netherlands .

In Nigeria, English language is the official language. It was adopted as the official language after Independence due to multilingual nature of the new founded Nigeria. It has since then been the language of governance, official duties, transactions, learning and more. It is a compulsory subject in primary and secondary schools and also made compulsory in general studies in higher institutions of learning. It is used in our day to day activities. It is the language one speak to anyone one is not sure of his or her language. It is a language that has taken over in the nation as every one try to communicate in English both at school and home, even churches use it as the language of sharing the gospel.
In this series, we will be looking into English language as it is related to writing and speech making. I will start from the very scratch, Alphabet.

Sonya Carson It was by the inspiration of Sonya Carson, that the son, Ben Carson was able to rise from 'zero head' to mender of brains, neurosurgeon.
