SEA SNAIL: MARINE GESTRAPODS

The sea snail is an invertebrate shelled creature, that live in salt water. It is of different shapes, colours and sizes. The sea snail with the largest shell is, Syrinx aranaux, 91cm, while the smallest ones have less than 1mm shell size for it adult.
    Marine gestrapods like to live on reefs and attach themselves to surface under water like rock and plant. They have from a few to thousands teeth in their mouths. Most sea snails are herbivorous, they eat only plants, their favourites is algae. They also eat dead plants. Some others, eat fish and other snails. They tear and grind their food instead of chewing it.
One thing sea snails have in common is, they all have gills with which they breath in oxygen from water.
Their shell, which is usually spiral shaped and mostly twisted clockwise, are used for protection, they withdraw into it for safety and close in with operculum, this prevent them from being eaten by predators.

USE OF SEA SNAIL BY HUMAN
-They are used for food.
-They are used to make jewelries.
-They are used to make buttons.

USE BY OTHER CREATURES
-They serve as food for other sea creatures as well.
-The hermit crab use it for protection.
