THE POWER OF PRAYER
Prayer is commonly define as the communication between God and man but I think it is more than that. Prayer is one of the mysteries given to man, as a needed necessity for life, to access God in His highness. At that point of meeting God, many things happen, we thank God, we ask for mercy, we ask for our life needs and pray for others. When God respond as he had promised 'Call on me and I will answer you', life changes, mountains are leveled, valleys are exalted, showers of blessings come down, sins are forgive, wars are won, lives are transformed, miracles, signs, wonders, many more as a man ask the LORD with the right mind.
The life of everyone needs prayer, as we are people of limited capacity. Through prayer, challenges are over throne. The spiritual also control the physical, we need prayer to destroy the works of the wicked ones and lives a life God has ordain for us. It is written in Mat.7:7 'Ask and it shall be given' So it is a open check from heaven for us to pray, asking for our life need with right motive. When we ask with the right motive, God is quick to answer us. Let your motive be always right before God and he will hear you.
Humble yourself, instead of complaining and murmuring, pray. 'Men ought to pray and not faint' 'Pray without ceasing' Let your prayer be in holiness and clean hands with much of thanksgiving and the Lord will hear you. Do not say that challenges is too small, no, nothing is too small to pray about, even your journey to your place of work. Pray for His protection and that the evil on the way shall be averted. Pray in faith, believing in the possibility power of the God that can do all things and you will see those things that look like simple words uttered in Jesus name do wonders in your life.
Let see the power of prayer on the life of the people of old.
JEHOSHAPHAT (2Chron.20: 1-30)
Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah. Unexpectedly, three nations rose up against him, he heard about it and feared but he did not forget the LORD God of his fathers. He declared a fast through the land, the people gathered themselves to 'ask for the help of the LORD' I.e. pray. Though there was war coming, instead of shrinking into their skins and giving up, they called on the one, who can save them and he did. God through his prophets told them what to do and they did not fight in that battle after they had carried out the instruction of God.
When overwhelming things come upon you as this and all road just seems block, all you need is to pray to God and do as He commanded.
HANNAH(1Sam.1:1-20)
Hannah was a woman not happy. She was barren and suffer provocation from her rival, Peninnah. You can guess how she must have been troubled, looking at the case of women who had delay in childbirth in our society today. In that particular Shiloh, she decided to pray unlike before, she knelt and prayed earnestly with a vow. The LORD heard her prayer and terminate her shame. He gave her Samuel, after Samuel were other children.
What is that thing in your life that made you cry and cry again, you have been mocked, despise and all sort. If only you will pray earnestly as Hannah did, all shall be settled. If you will, you can also make a vow to God but pay at the right time.
ELIJAH (1kings18:20-39)
Elijah was a prophet of God, who will be remembered for the fire on mount Carmel. The God that answer by fire. This fire he called down by prayer. He was in a battle of supremacy with 400 prophet of Baal. He set the altar, making the people to pour water on it thrice, then he prayed. Fire fell on the sacrifice. The people bowed on the their faces and proclaimed that the LORD is God above every other God.
What is the that challenge that makes your life seems enemies are taking over, call on God, who is supreme to all and he will answer as he answered Elijah.
JESUS
Jesus was a man of notable miracles, from opening the blind eyes to raising the dead. Even after he had gone, his name still work wonders. This did not just happen, Jesus was a man of prayer. It was said of him that he withdrew to the mountain to pray. He was the one who charge that 'Men ought to pray and not to faint' that must be what he does, praying and not fainting even through the night.
If your life will command signs and wonders, you must be given to prayer, ceaseless prayer.
THE DISCIPLES (Acts12:1-19)
In time of church persecution, Herod took Peter and put him in the prison. Other disciples began to pray. And so, the angel of the LORD came down and set free despite the fact that, he was made to lay between two soldiers bond with chains.
That is another power of prayer, is there any of your people in bondage or pains, do not just wish them well, pray for them. Wishes are good though but crow it with prayer and you will see them, set free.
Prayer is not for a class of people. Note this, you must pray in faith and the name of Jesus Christ for answered prayer.
No matter the situation you are now, you need prayer. When all thing are rosy and when thorny. Pray once and again and again without ceasing. Pray always and see God attend to the cases of your life and settling them.
